pride & joy

And now a word from our numbers.

Maybe we've been too hard on numbers. At a smallish liberal arts university like William & Mary, we like to say that "you're more than a number." But maybe that gives you the impression that numbers are bad. We like numbers. Some of our best friends are numbers. In fact, sometimes it feels really good to be a number, especially numbers like these:

#12 for best undergraduate teaching among national universities (U.S. News & World Report)
#2 public university in study abroad participation (The Institute of International Education's "Open Doors" report)
#1 in Virginia for commitment to access and affordability for low and middle income students (New York Times)
#4 for both Most Engaged in Community Service and Most Active Student Government (Princeton Review)
#5 ranking among all public universities (Forbes)
#12 Best Undergraduate Business Program (Bloomberg Businessweek)

Add up those numbers and the conclusion is clear: William & Mary is one of the best universities in America and a wise educational investment. (The numbers also add up to 36, but that seems less important.)
